Hoopnotica Hoops are “Adult Sized,” meaning that they are much larger (and a whole lot prettier) than a simple child’s toy. Our hoops are weighted at 1.5 lbs, thus providing the perfect amount of momentum and resistance for achieving the optimal cardiovascular workout. As your skill improves, the weight helps to maintain control of your movement and build muscle tone.

Hoopnotica = Fun. Excessively weighted hoops (more than 1.5 lbs) are neither fun, nor recommended, as they can be uncomfortable to work with, and may result in injuries. We know that you are excited to sculpt those abs as fast as possible, and a heavier hoop may seem like the quickest solution…to destroying your back, that is!

There are other weighted hoops on the market, designed to capitalize on the naïveté of the enthusiastic, yet amateur hooper. Don’t buy into it! A 5 or 10 pound hoop generates so much force as it rotates around you, that you could very easily hurt yourself, or someone else by using one. Hurt=Not Fun

You could try*, but you may be disappointed with the outcome. Toy hoops can be fun, and many experienced Hoopers have a few small, lightweight hoops in their collection. However, we don't recommend them for beginning Hoopnotica practitioners, because the hoops are too difficult to maneuver. The smaller and lighter the hoop you use, the faster you need to move your body in an extremely precise manner in order to maintain momentum.  Although as a beginner, it is normal to drop your Hoopnotica hoop, with a toy hoop, you’d be dropping it way more often.

*If you are working on your own with our DVDs, then the hoop choice is yours. However, you will need to use a Hoopnotica® Hoop to take one of our classes.  We want you to be safe and successful, and would hate to waste your valuable class time in order to prove a point. Our hoops are designed to tone your adult body safely and effectively. We genuinely care about your health and happiness. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Hoopnotica expects that you will receive your hoop in perfect condition, and begin to use it immediately. The decorative tape on your Hoop may wear down if you repeatedly drop it on textured surfaces, like concrete or asphalt. We recommend that beginners practice on a soft surface like grass or carpet. Stay away from walls, coffee tables, or wandering children. Even with careful consideration, it is not uncommon for your first hoop to become a bit torn and worn-looking. A well-loved hoop is not always the prettiest (but is often a favorite!). If you love Hoopnotica half as much as we do, we predict that you will acquire many hoops from our collection; ranging from the slightly worn, to those in practically perfect condition—a true testament to your prodigious hooping progress!

Get ready to laugh, sweat and have some fun! Our teachers will guide you through the Hoopnotica® curriculum step by step, at your own pace. You’ll begin with foundational moves such as waist hooping, hip hooping, and halos (spinning the hoop with your hands above the head). Once you have practiced and mastered these basic (but not necessarily easy!) moves, you’ll be ready to forge ahead with more complicated exercises. Before you know it, you will be moving gracefully and manipulating your hoop with intention.  Regardless of your level, you are sure to get a considerable cardiovascular workout with just a few minutes of practice. Your heart will be pumping, and your face will be smiling. Most hoopers will agree that it’s pretty near impossible to be angry or stressed in the hoop (but please feel welcome to try).

As Hoopnotica® Hoopdance is all about movement, your clothing should accommodate that. In our experience, the best items to hoop in are: stretchy jeans, i.e. “jeggings” (the hoop really sticks!), yoga pants, or leggings made of natural fiber material. Slim fitting sleeveless tops are essential for upper body workout, as bare skin is nature's best grip. Try not to wear synthetics such as nylon or rayon, as the hoop tends to “slip”, making the learning process more difficult.

We ship orders within 1-4 business days of receiving them. Our products are shipped via FedEx or USPS Mail, which ever is the least expensive for you.   Once your order is shipped, you will receive a tracking number via e-mail. For all contiguous domestic orders, the average shipping time once the order leaves our warehouse is around 3-7 business days.  For INTERNATIONAL orders - shipping time is about 4-9 Business days via USPS Priority Mail, and 3-7 Business days for Express Mail.  Please Note:  Our Flat Rate Shipping applies to contiguous states only.

Here’s the scoop:

Because of their unusual size and shape, Full-Sized hoops are considered “oversized” packages, by normal shipping standards and must be scanned manually.  To minimize the shipping delays, we pack your Hoop in a custom made box which allows us to stay within the shipping guidelines. Over the years, we have found that shipping via FedEx is the most effective and cost-efficient way to ship your package.

Unfortunately Shipping companies have not yet caught up with the demand of the Hooping Industry, so the industry as a whole faces higher shipping costs.  Please be assured, that we are doing everything we can to keep the shipping costs as low as possible.

You may notice on your invoice and/or e-mail that it says your order is being shipped via USPS Priority Mail for products other than the Full Sized Hoops.   Under normal circumstances Priority Mail would be 1-3 days, however, for the Mini Hoops, the actual Priority Mail delivery time may take 5-10 days to reach you, due to the fact that the hoop may still have to be manually scanned at each and every stop along its way. We know…ridiculous. Just think of yourself as “special”; you are now part of a movement so early in its fame…that you get to enjoy the growing pains with us. We’re bonding!

For International orders, will I have to pay additional customs fees and taxes?

We at Hoopnotica® strive to produce the highest quality products & carefully inspect all products before shipment. If you feel the need to return or exchange your order, please review the following steps to make the return process as quick and easy as possible...

Before you contact us, if you purchased your Hoopnotica product through a retail store or internet source other than Hoopnotica.com, you will need to contact that retail to process your return.


Please email info@hoopnotica.com with the reason for your return. We will issue an RMA number that you will include on your return. Returned packages received without an RMA number will be charged a 15% restocking fee. Please read the product specific return/exchange guidelines below before contacting us.

Damaged/Defective Product: If your order arrives to you damaged or defective, you may return/exchange your purchase within 30 days of receipt of goods. We will arrange to have your return shipped back to us at no charge to you if necessary. We will then issue a credit to your credit card, or send out your exchange upon receipt of your return with no additional S&H fees.

Returns/Exchanges: If for any reason other than damage or defect you do not wish to keep the product you ordered, or require a different size or color- you may return your unusedpurchase in its original packaging within 30 days of receipt of goods for credit or exchange. We will NOT accept used goods for return or exchange. We will issue a credit to the credit card used for the original purchase less the original shipping cost, or send out your exchange upon receipt of your return. You will be responsible for all S&H fees associated with the return/exchange. If you have purchased your Hoopnotica® TravelHoop through a third party retailer, you'll need to go through that retailer for processing of your return.

Before you return anything to us for any reason, contact us to obtain a Returned Merchandise Authorization number that you must include with your return. The RMA will allow us to keep track of your return, and to help ensure that your refund or exchange is properly handled. Merchandise returned to us without an RMA number will delay the processing of your return and incur a 15% restocking fee.
