Hoopnotica incorporates elements of traditional "hula hooping" with high energy dance moves that are fun to learn and work out every part of your body. Using an adult sized, weighted hoop is essential for the beginning Hooper, and we have lots of color options for you to choose from.

 

What is the difference between Hula Hooping and Hoopnotica?

Hoopnotica is a foundational skill building program that will allow you to move on to other styles of Hoop Dance with ease. Our program has been inspiring people to hoop since 2006; we have a long standing reputation built upon experience and quality. Other hoopers have taken our program and adapted it to fit their own brands (like our former student Marisa Tomei did with her fitness DVD HoopBody). We support the growth of every Hooper, and are committed in our intention to provide quality instruction that can be easily built upon as the needs of the Hooper grows.

"Hula Hooping" is the term created by Wham-O in the 50's to support a child's toy. Hula hooping is the foundation for Hoopnotica, but is less extensive than the complete fitness and dance program we offer. Even if you have never been able to hula hoop, you will be surprised at how easily you will learn with our comprehensive program.

 

Will Hoopnotica help me lose weight?

Absolutely! Hooping tones the muscles of the core and the entire body while also providing an intense cardiovascular workout. Hoopnotica burns between 400 and 600 calories an hour, with little to no impact on your joints. Most students who practice Hoopnotica regularly notice changes in their bodies within just a few weeks. The best part about using Hoopnotica to lose weight is how much FUN you'll have doing it! Remember: dropping the hoop as you learn is absolutely normal and shouldn't discourage you! The action of dropping it, picking it up, and starting over again actually BURNS MORE CALORIES. Once you learn the basics, we offer further instruction and support to keep you moving in our DVDs.

We recommend that as soon as you feel comfortable with a large hoop, you scale the hoop size and weight down to challenge your body. This will ensure that your cardio stay up as your skills increase.

Are Hoopnotica hoops weighted? Why?

Yes. We sell weighted fitness hoops; they are 1.5 lbs. This weight is perfect for beginners, as it provides momentum and resistance. The momentum keeps the hoop moving as you learn to power the hoop from within; and the resistance is what tones the core and builds strength. We do not recommend a kids toy hoop for practicing Hoopnotica as it simply does not allow an adult body the momentum necessary to succeed in our program as a beginner. Heavier hoops than the ones offered in the Hoopnotica fitness series injure the body badly (no fun at all).
