Move over Sasha Fierce- Meet Susan!

by HoopMamma on April 2, 2009

Tonight I had an epiphany about choices:

I knew I needed to eat some sort of green, leafy vegetable- fiber is really important for digestion; and in case you didn’t know, digestion plays a role in fatty weight reduction. Back to the epiphany.

I decide to make spinach. First, spinach salad: with olive oil. NO- warmed pancetta, garlic, and olive oil!!

NO- butter and … and… NO!!!! Bleu cheese!!! YES!

“Wait!”, a little voice says, “Why not just put it in the microwave and steam it? You don’t HAVE to eat all that added fat, right? You could choose not to!”

“But bleu cheese is low in carbs! And it will taste SO much better…. salty… mmmm…. ”

“Yes; it will taste better”, little voice rationalized,”…but you don’t want to be on a diet indefinitely, and so you must choose wisely. If you choose not to pay attention to me, then you are not really on a diet- you are LYING TO YOURSELF”.

DAMN YOU, Little VOICE!!!

No, I LOVE little voice. I shall call you Susan- just like the giant woman in Monsters vs. Aliens. I love Susan.

I have decided that I am going to take these last 15 pounds very seriously- no more messing around. In the end, we all have it in us to make the right decisions, right? Why do we try and “outsmart” ourselves? Well I for one am opting out of this cycle. So I steamed the spinch, damnit- and I didn’t mind the taste so much. I ate it to prove a point to myself- I have will power!

I invite you all to exercise some self control in the coming days, and to share it with me. Weather it is keeping an appointment with yourself to HOOP- or choosing to have chicken instead of Rib Eye (what?! They’re both protein, right? ATKINS APPROVED…I am SOOO good at this game!)

Evoke a Susan for yourself- give her a personification (or go see Monsters vs. Aliens- but don’t hold it against me if you hate it. HoopMamma has low standards; two children; and typically goes to see kids movies if she needs a good nap while entertaining the rugrats- don’t worry, I bike lock them to the chair, duh..!)

I am going to lose 3 pounds this week. Law of attraction, I would like you to meet my Susan!

DONT FORGET TO FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER! Or, if you can’t stand Twitter, or the idea of “Tweeting”, then… well, don’t follow me. But don’t roll your eyes at me. Stop it! I mean it- I really like Twittering-er-tweeting! And you KNOW you have someone who “Twitters”- so tell them to follow me! I would totally do it for you, even if I totally rolled my eyes when you weren’t looking.

Thanks for that comparison of your inner voice to Susan! It’s perfect. I’ve got to be more positive and focused. And I have to say I loved Monsters vs Aliens, and I don’t care what anyone else thinks! I’m going to start thinking like Susan. :D
