Name: Raileen Rask
Hooper Since: Oct 2006
Age: 42
Occupation: Office Asst.
Favorite Hoop: Harajuku Girl and Hoopnotic Cure
Favorite Song to Hoop to: Banco DeGaia "I Love Baby Cheesy"
"I asked a friend if I could try her hoop; she handed it to me and gave me a brief lesson. I was hooked! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would enjoy hooping so much that I would hoop anywhere, even in front of a crowd! I quickly learned how hooping made other people smile and making other people smile is something I love.
I finally found my exercise program. I hate going to the gym or working out with a group of people, I'm just too uncoordinated. I was amazed when I started hooping that I dropped 15 pounds with out even changing anything in my diet, all I did was hoop dance for 1/2 hour on my lunch break and it was fun!
Thanks to Rayna and Keaton I've learned so many new things with my hoop." ~ Raileen

DANCE!
Dance is an expression of emotion through movement, and without it connected to your practice- all you're doing is hula-hooping. We at Hoopnotica stress in all of our classes the importance of rhythm & flow- here are some tips for feelin' the beat.
1. Experiment: you don't know if you don't try. Put on a song and start dancing to it- THEN put on your hoop and continue to move your body in a similar manner- it's ok if the hoop falls- that's how your body learns it's boundaries.
2. Try other forms of dance: we can all go out to a bar or a wedding and dance it up, but try to expand your dance repertoire- try belly dance, bollywood, trance dance or a hip hop class! You'll be amazed at what you can incorporate into your hoop.
