2007 started out as one of the worst years ever. I had recently experienced a number of serious personal, professional, and financial set-backs. I was unemployed, obese, suffering from severe depression and had no idea how to fix the things that had gone wrong with my life. I discovered hooping that summer when I saw a hoop dancer perform at an art festival. I was mesmerized and instantly knew that hooping was for me.
That same day, I conducted a Google search and discovered Hoopnotica. I ordered a TravelHoop and the beginning DVD series. I spent the next few months as a "Closet Hooper," practicing alone in my back yard with only my dog as an audience. I eventually worked up the courage to attend my first Hoopnotica class in Los Angeles. The class was taught by the wonderful Keaton, who was very patient and encouraging.
In addition to being a great workout and loads of fun, hooping also helped me in ways that I never anticipated. I found a great new job, made new friends, and noticed that the often debilitating depression had lifted and became a thing of the past.
Today, I am 50 pounds lighter and often surprise myself by how much more confident, fit, and in love with life I have become. Hooping has helped me to regain a true appreciation for my body and to be thankful for every part of myself, even though many of those parts remain far from perfect. I cannot make the claim that hooping is a miracle cure that will solve all of life's problems. However, for many people, hooping can be an important step in the right direction. My hoops are loving, patient dance partners that encourage me to try new things and are always ready to play. My love of hooping is so great that I recently acquired my teaching certification through Hoopnotica. I'm looking forward to sharing the joy of hooping with others and hope to help build a strong, loving hooping community in Las Vegas.
Hooping has provided an amazing experience and my life is forever changed because of it. If you're thinking about trying hooping but have not yet taken that important first step, don't wait another day! Your beautiful inner child has always been inside of you just waiting to come out and play. Don't keep her waiting!!! ~ Julie

Pass It On
Passing is a great way to open your shoulder & arm muscles as well as build upper back strength and flexibility. Here are some tips for getting in the swing~~
1.Mind your Space: Passing is not a move to be explored in your living room- so chose large open spaces where you can really stretch out to practice this fun hand-off.
2.Palms Down: During passing you always want to keep your palms down- especially in the back! This requires your shoulder blades to pull together and work the muscles in your back correctly.
Learn this move in detail plus many others on our acclaimed DVD Series. BUY NOW!
