July 30, 2007 was the day I first saw Rayna on Good Morning America. I thought to myself "I want to DO that!" I ran to my computer and within 15 minutes, I discovered the word "Hoopnotica" & was the proud owner of a Travel Hoop and a DVD! IT was FATE! In June of 2008 Rayna came to Texas for a Teacher Training, but I wasn't quite prepared enough for that. She suggested the Distance Training instead, and it was a wonderful fit for me! I started seriously studying in September of 2008 and completed the training in April 2009.
Honestly, finding the time to hoop and study was hard at times, since I have many family obligations and a small home-based business. I also suffer from bouts of severe vertigo, which would cause me to take breaks from my hoop practice on more than one occasion. Hoopdance has really empowered me to keep moving, be artistically expressive and be active in a FUN way. How ironic- what has HELPED me work through and accept my balance disorder is something that actually SPINS around me! If I can do this, ANYONE can!
The fact that I have found my passion and joy is making SUCH a difference in my life! I have more energy and am WAY less stressed! I am tone! I sleep much better! I feel better than I ever have before, I don't have back pain and I can eat anything I want in moderation; I burn so many calories off while hooping! At my age, I was starting to see weight gain just from the change in hormones. After several months of daily hooping for 30-40 minutes- broken up into two 15-20 minute sessions on some days - I am pounds lighter and inches smaller. My hot flashes are a thing of the past since I am getting regular exercise. Combined with wearing a heart monitor, Hoopnotica has helped me become active, accepting, accountable and excited to share my knowledge with everyone I meet. My goal now is to teach weekly classes regularly and train others to be fit while having a blast!

It's almost summer, but it's not too late to get that bikini body ready. Here are some tips for kickin' it up a notch. We're using our New & Improved TravelHoopwith just 5 segments for these exercises - the smaller diameter of the hoop makes you work faster and increases your cardio!
1.Super Waist Trimmer: While hooping on your waist- Increase the speed of both your front & back push until your hoop gains momentum. Do at least 3 sets of 10 before giving yourself a break.
2.Hourglass Rocker: High speed upper body hooping does wonders for the obliques - the muscles along the sides of your waist. Use arm weaving to give yourself variety & plies to keep the lower body working.
