The HoopScoop

Do you remember the first time you fell in love with your Hoop?

Not the ugly toy store variety, but the shiny new, beautiful and sparkly wonder that became your partner in sexiness? Mine was gold and pink, and I called her "Shug" (as in Sugar). I wonder where Shug is now... I gave her away years ago, to a deserving young Hooper who was so thrilled to receive it. It's so nice to share your love with others; teach people what you know, and watch them grow. Besides, giving away old hoops brings a new life to their purpose, and makes room in your closet for a brand new hoop!

Choose from our Winter Fairytale collection or shop the SALE Limited Editions from seasons past. You'll get a great deal and a new inspiration for hooping. If you need support with weight loss- check out the HoopMamma blog for more information on how to Hoop It Off!

We wish you a fabulous love affair this Valentine's Day; enjoy yourself in the Hoop, and don't forget to share it with others! We would love to share a date or two with you, so if you're in the Venice area, stop by for a Class!

I teach a lot of kid's yoga classes and I'm constantly creating new curriculum. One Summer, I was fascinated with mandalas, so I did a Google search and found Mandala Hoops. I was instantly in love! Kara in Oregon was hooping and practicing yoga to Deee-Lite. It was totally nostalgic and new at the same time. I knew that I was going to do "that" and totally rock out in the hoop. Within 24 hours, I bought everything I could on hooping. After trying all the videos, the Hoopnotica series just made sense and my skill set rapidly increased.

Hooping has been a total blessing in that it's inclusive and promotes togetherness. I hoop with my daughter, mother and husband. Everyone we know gets a hoop for their birthday. As a Hoopnotica Certified Instructor, I've taught in schools, gyms, yoga studios, and will share the hoop love at the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute.

Hoop Dance helps me to stay fit, but I really appreciate the sheer joy of "finding myself in the hoop," and assisting others with the same. I predict that in 2009 and beyond, Hoop Dance will be highlighted as a fun, fitness and entertainment art and embraced by the global fitness and therapeutic communities. I'm excited to do my part as a member of the Hoopnotica Team and I anticipate bringing Hoop Dance to the White House as an Official International Hoop Dance Ambassador!

Hoop Dance with me this March at the DC Hoopnotica Teacher Training. Learn more about me and my practice at http://lovemovementhealingarts.com/aboutj and www.meetup.com/hoopdancedc.

Support Your Spine

"Hoopdance is clearly a tremendous method for building core muscle strength. However, Hoopdance as practiced by Hoopnotica goes even deeper by providing strength training for the small muscles that stabilize the vertebral segments. This increased vertebral stabilization adds greatly to the long term fitness and health of the spine."

 - Vincent A. Punturere, DC  American Fitness Article
